24 Week Ultrasound

Today we had our follow-up ultrasound due to the "sub-optimal views" of the spine and 4 chamber heart. I elected to go to the Valparaiso facility rather than the Portage one this time because of the terrible experience I had before. They put me with their most experienced technician from Northwestern in downtown Chicago, so I know I was in good hands this time. I was telling her of my previous experience and she said, "You need to formally write this down! We need to know about these kinds of things!" She had me fill out a form allowing me to vent about the previous technician I had. It felt so good. I really hope something is done about it. No mother-to-be should have to feel the way I did after having their first ultrasound done; especially with it being a first pregnancy!

Gail (the technician I had today) showed me everything on the screen that I was was worried about to prove there was nothing wrong. I was still a little hesitant at first, but she gained my trust rather quickly. Never did I hear a complaint from her, a grunt, a cell phone go off, or a "This baby!!! Ugh!" She was very professional and knew exactly what to do and say to calm me down.

After the exam was over (which took about 45 minutes) I asked her when I would be able to call my doctor for the official results. She said, "I will call them now and ask them if I can share with you what I already know." She called my doctor's office right in front of my mom and I (I brought my mom with since Chuck had to work today, and I know she would get a kick out of going)and they told her as long as she was comfortable to go ahead. She assured me that the baby is "perfect" and right where she should be. She told me I have nothing to worry about due to what she saw during the exam. Absolutely no spina bifida or lack of 4 chambers. Phew! All is well.

I had terrible nightmares of this ultrasound going exactly opposite the way they did today. I am glad everything turned out as it did.

After the ultrasound my mother and I went out for lunch and to Target to get a few last minute things for Christmas. It was great to spend the day with my mom and share such a special time in my life with her. She never was given an ultrasound during any of her 3 pregnancies, so it was a whole new experience for her. I did get 3 pictures from today; however I cannot make out what they are!!! Haha. I will post them anyways and leave them for you to interpret.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas with their families this year! Be safe driving; it's pretty yucky out there! Merry Christmas!

I believe this is a profile pic...

This is a straight-on view of her face (kind of creepy)

Another try at a profile pic I believe. Not very successful.
