Today I had my fist doctor's appointment with Lisa. When I got there I had to do all of the usual stuff: weight, height, pee in a cup (which was good because I really had to go)! The nurse then came into the room and told me that it's official: I am pregnant! It was kind of a relief because it had been so long, or so it seemed, since I had take the HPTs. it was nice to have that verification again. The nurse told me my due date is April 16, 2010, but on-line it says April 15th. I guess it is only a day difference...I'll go with the doctors due date. My mom came with me to the appointment since Chuck was in Michigan. It was no biggie because I knew all we were going to talk about was family health history and things like that. Lisa is a midwife, which I am really excited about! I think that is the direction I would like to take when it is time to give birth. There is just something special and magical about doing things more natural (with less interventions). She said she likes women to labor mainly at home in their comfort zone and then head to the hospital when the woman is about 5 cm. She also mentioned hyponobirthing which was funny she mentioned that because I had just watched A Baby Story with a woman who used hypnobirthing techniques. A Hypnobirth is where the woman uses music and relaxation tapes to focus on something else rather than the pains of labor. It looked like it worked wonders on the TV show. It is definitely something I will have to do more research on. Lisa then talked to my mom and me about the genetic testing options that are available if Chuck and I so choose. I think I am definitely leaning towards having the testing done just to prepare for anything that may come up. We then talked about family health history and all of that fun stuff! Next appointment is 4 weeks from now and I will have a pelvic exam as well as blood work, and hopefully hear the heartbeat!
Still no real crazy symptoms yet, just sore boobies....
